“The real problem is not that we are different, nor that we disagree and have conflict. It's that most of us automatically view conflict as something negative rather than as a tool God can use to help us better understand ourselves and one another.

12/04 Morning Report

Speaking of Democratically elected leadership, Chavez won the election. Isn’t that exciting? And, what does this mean...exactly? Well…

"Today a new era has started, with the expansion of the revolution," he told tens of thousands of jubilant people. “Venezuela was firmly on the track to socialism.”
That part is no big surprise. Everyone knew he was a socialist (…I’m being nice…) What bothered me was the casual mention of this:
The president is now likely to set about reforming the Venezuelan constitution to remove any limits on how many times he can be re-elected.
The BBC is endorsing the probable rule of a dictator! Despite all their vitriol towards Bush about a fascist-regime, and dictatorship, the BBC has no problem with Chavez fixing things so he can remain in power indefinitely? Of course, it doesn’t matter that crime is rising, especially gun related deaths, and Chavez is doing nothing about it.
(…but, hey…let’s just blame the cops…)

I want this one explained. According to this Washington Post article, via the AP, UN Peacekeepers are sexually exploiting and abusing people. So, where is the media outcry? Let a few instances of US soldiers doing something, and there is a world wide outcry. How come the UN can get away with it? And, where is the report on the nationality breakdown?
(…but, of course, Chickenhawk couldn’t be right about media bias…or, we could ask John if they eat cake…)

On the subject of the press, and free speech, I’ll post this from Snoop at Political Partypoop.
(…my how things have changed…)
